Ant Pest Control Melbourne
Safer and Greener Pest SolutionsAnts marching through the kitchen? We treat the nest, not the trail.

Finding Ants In the House?
The ants on your bench are foragers and only a small part of the colony. Wiping them up changes nothing, because the nest is somewhere else entirely and keeps sending more.
Then it is worth knowing that what you buy at the supermarket or hardware store will not fix it. Those are surface sprays, and ants are a colony problem rather than a surface one.

That depends on which ant you have, so we work that out first. We follow the trails back to see where they are running, what they are feeding on, and where the line disappears into a wall, a slab join or a garden bed, because that is what tells us where the nest actually is.
Then we match what goes down to the species and to what the colony is taking. Most ants we deal with are sugar feeders, so a sweet gel is usually the right call, and we combine it with a non repellent insecticide the ants carry back without detecting it.
Sugar Feeders, Protein Feeders And Gel Baits
It is deliberately slow. A product that killed a forager on the spot would never make it back to the nest, so seeing ants still moving for a few days after treatment is the treatment working rather than failing.

Why Ants Keep Coming Back
Ants returning after a treatment is the most common complaint we hear, and there are only a handful of reasons for it. Usually more than one is going on at once.
That is also why an ant job includes a follow up. We check whether the bait has been taken and whether the trail has stopped, and if a line is still running we come back and change the bait rather than repeating the same one.
Knowing which ant we are dealing with shapes all of it. Pavement ants belong to one colony so the nest can be found and treated, where white footed ants run several sub nests naturally and take more work to clear.

Keeping Ants Out After The Treatment
Ants come back to whatever brought them in, so the treatment holds a lot longer when the trail has nothing to walk towards.
Inside, it is the small stuff. Crumbs under the toaster, the sticky ring under a honey jar, pet bowls left down overnight and bins that need a wipe out rather than a new liner.
Keeping branches and shrubs from touching the walls, and gardens and mulch away from the brickwork help to keep a physical barrier from the garden to your home.

How To Book An Ant Treatment
Tell Us Where The Ant Trails Are
Call or use the quote form and tell us where the trails are running and how long it has been going on. A photo of the ants helps us pick the bait.
We Track The Ants To The Nest
We follow the trails back to find where the colony actually is, then place the right bait for that species at the points they are already using.
We Check The Bait Is Working
Activity should drop away over the following week or two as the bait moves through the colony. If a trail is still running after that, we come back.

Ant Control FAQs
Why shouldn't I use an ant killer spray myself?
Because it only reaches the foragers, which are a small part of the colony. The nest carries on sending more, and a repellent product can also make the ants avoid the very area we need them to walk through when we treat it properly.
Why are there still ants after the ant treatment?
That is the treatment doing its job. Both the gel bait and the non repellent insecticide are meant to be carried back into the colony before they take effect, so if it killed a forager on the spot it would never reach the nest. Activity should fall away over the following week or two.
How do you find the ant nest?
We follow the trails. Where the line is running, what they are feeding on and where it disappears into a wall, a slab join or a garden bed all point back to where the colony sits. That is what we treat, rather than the ants on the bench.
Do black ants, sugar ants and bull ants need different baits?
Most of what we deal with are sugar feeders, so a sweet gel suits them. Protein feeders come up rarely, and bull ants are the one people notice, which need a different bait and a different approach. Sending us a photo before we come means we arrive with the right thing.
What is a white footed ant?
A common one in Melbourne, named for the pale feet you can really only see under a microscope. They matter because they naturally run several sub nests rather than one colony, so they take more finding and a single treatment point rarely clears them.
Is ant bait safe around pets and children?
It is, as long as it is placed properly. Gel goes into the cracks, voids and trail points ants use rather than across open surfaces. Let us know before we arrive if you have pets so we can place accordingly.
Why do ants keep coming back every summer?
Because the colony outside was never the target of whatever was done indoors, and warm weather brings the foragers back in looking for food and water. Treating the nest is what breaks that cycle, and keeping branches, mulch and garden beds off the walls stops the next one bridging in.
Do you treat bull ants in the garden?
Yes. Bull ants nest in the ground outside rather than in the building, so they are treated at the nest rather than with an indoor bait, and they are one of the protein feeders that needs a different product. Tell us if someone has been stung and where, because that usually narrows down the nest.
